MKD Guiding Principles that Drive Success

Your employees should come first.

Yes, customers are important. But they are the result of an organization that is comprised of happy, well-adjusted and purpose-driven individuals.

Purpose is what motivates employees today.

People crave purpose and want to know that what they do matters to the world, to their communities, and most importantly to themselves. The ability to get clear on what your business purpose is and how each person in your organization impacts that purpose, is necessary if you want to increase sales, customer loyalty, and ultimately your bottom line.

each individual is uniquely positioned to add value to your organization.

The world needs more leaders that apply a strengths-based approach to creating a high performing team. You will stand out as a leader when you can identify the individual strengths on your team and cultivate an inclusive environment that allows each person to flourish.

Culture eats Strategy for Lunch.

Yes. This is a fact. Culture is the leading driver of success or failure for business and the HR function sits at the core of developing, driving, and nurturing culture. The strategies that HR implements from diversity & inclusion, to how people are developed & trained, to policies that are implemented (or not) are significant drivers of how things get done.

MY PURPOSE IS TO BRING FULFILLMENT TO INDIVIDUALS IN THE WORKPLACE AND ULTIMATELY LONG-TERM SUCCESS TO YOUR ORGANIZATION. BY FOCUSING ON DEVELOPING YOUR TALENT, YOU ARE INVESTING IN YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET.

Unleashing the Power of People

Inclusive. Thoughtful. Strategic.

Inclusive

Early in my career, I discovered that people are the heartbeat of any successful organization. I have devoted my career to improving processes and creating programs that encourage employees to bring their best and whole selves to work each day. I see myself as your partner in building an inclusive culture.

Thoughtful

I understand that your organization is unique. You have a culture you are trying to shape. I take the time to understand your vision, and tailor the solution(s) to your roadmap.

Strategic

Once I understand your vision and business objectives, I work to recommend a solution that will help you achieve your goals.  For any change initiative, I involve key stakeholders from the very beginning.  I understand that your talent is critical to custom-made solutions, and as such will engage with them in the creation process.  As a trusted partner to your HR team, I will deliver a step-by-step plan.

Our partnership and your investment in developing your talent will drive improved and measurable organizational performance.

Services to Engage Your Talent

CAREER PATH DESIGN & COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT

Lack of career path is a common frustration for many employees in Corporate America today and is a significant driver of turn-over. The good news is that there is always a career path. The problem is that all too frequently HR departments have little time or resources to show employees what their career could look like. To motivate and keep top talent, providing a clear picture of what the career options could be will drive engagement, productivity, and retention. The MKD approach involves alignment discussions with your senior leaders, facilitated sessions with your subject matter experts (employees), and ultimately competency identification and mapping that shows how cross lateral moves are not only possible, but a key way to develop your talent. Mapping competencies cross-functionally will show your talent that careers can move across the company, and do not necessarily have to be a vertical climb within a function. This work will not only enable employees to have a clearer picture of the possibilities but will aid your managers in having a robust career discussion with their teams.

ROLE STRUCTURE SIMPLIFICATION & LEVELING

Fast growing, successful companies do a lot of hiring. In times of fast growth, managers are looking to hire quickly. Job descriptions are written, people are hired, and before you know it, you have a titling structure that is confusing to the organization. This only serves to hurt morale. People want clarity. They want to know who is doing what and want to feel that their jobs are placed in the hierarchy at the right level.

To provide your employees with this clarity, I will work with you and your team to define the major areas of work, outline the individual roles that exist within these major work areas, and appropriately level each job so that roles are built on competency and skill required. Titles and leveling will align with the requirements of the job. Not only does this give your employees a clear idea of the different roles in your organization, it will reduce any internal angst that your employees may be feeling due to special or over-inflated titles. Also, this is a necessary step to building a clear career path.

PURPOSE & STRATEGY FACILITATION

Purpose is the largest driver of engagement. Yet many organizations do not understand the difference between vision and purpose. Why you do what you do is what compels people to join your organization and want to buy your product or service. My inclusive approach will guide you and your team to identify a strong and compelling purpose statement that will capture the hearts and minds of your employees and customers.

Whether you are looking to identify next year’s goals, your five-year strategy, or need to solve a business challenge, a well facilitated meeting is key to your credibility as a leader. As a highly skilled and energetic facilitator, my goal is to ensure your meeting is a success and that each participant leaves the meeting feeling a sense of accomplishment and a clear vision of next steps. Working closely with you, I will learn your goals, ensure you have invited the right stakeholders to your meeting, and tailor an agenda that is interactive, thought provoking, and achieves the results you are looking for.

group coaching

Group coaching is an effective method to increase learning transfer from your training initiatives. To ensure effective learning transfer for your trainees and to protect your training investment, a well-designed reinforcement activity is needed. I design custom group coaching programs based on the competencies you need reinforced. Group coaching programs are designed to be 6 months in length, with the group meeting for 90 minutes bi-weekly. Groups are ideally comprised of 5-7 individuals. The coaching program will reinforce the concepts you identify through a rhythm of concept discussion, goal setting, and sharing of lessons learned from actions put into practice in-between sessions.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING & COACHING

Leadership and management are not the same. My program develops your managers into leaders. Through thought provoking discussion, exercises, and theory, your managers will learn the importance of Vision, Alignment and Execution and the methods to start implementing concepts immediately. This 3 Session journey of 2.5 hours each will stretch the way your managers think about their role and leave them feeling compelled to approach their team in a whole new way. Utilizing the Wiley DiSC assessment, I help your managers see their leadership potential and teach them the fundamentals of leadership. Individual coaching sessions and development plans can be added for an extra fee.

TEAM DYNAMICS

Positive team dynamics is critical to organizational success. If your team is not working well together, seems competitive with each other, doesn’t have shared goals or accountability, you are losing productivity. With the MKD approach I will partner with you to understand the root cause and then recommend the right approach. Leader and team must be willing to take an honest look at what is contributing to sub-optimal performance and be open to change.

A few approaches I like to use are:

Build Trust - Patrick Lencioni’s “5 Dysfunctions of a Team” approach places trust at the core of any well-functioning team and then focuses on Conflict, Commitment, Accountability and finally Results. Depending on your time and budget, this program can be tailored to ½ day, 1 day or the full 2 day session that focuses on all 5 dysfunctions of a team.

Strengths-Based Approach – Utilizing Gallup’s “Strengths Finder Assessment” I will help your team unlock their potential by diving deep into the unique strengths of each individual on the team. Next, we explore the shared goals of the team and identify how to best maximize results by aligning the optimal strengths & talent to each specific goal. Lastly, we celebrate our unique individuality and how when the whole operates cohesively, it is greater than the sum of the parts.

Testimonials

I was thoroughly impressed with Megan’s work orchestrating and carrying out our senior leadership retreat. She is not only highly skilled, professional, and knowledgeable, but she brought a tone and breadth of inclusivity, humor, and wit to our team gathering. What was so profound was that before you knew it, Megan was a part of our team and not the outlier “consultant.” She exercised her own values and principles that trust is amongst the key infrastructures to a team, the team’s vision and work making our time with her and together so important, relevant and lasting. Megan is truly a forward thinking leader and guider for teams and I would recommend her work to any organization.

Megan delivered leadership training to our sales operations organization during Covid, and so engaged with the team virtually via Zoom. We had specific training needs and she delivered a custom solution for us. She engaged with the team as though she was in the room, highly energetic, and knowledgeable in the material. She facilitated a good amount of discussion and learning transfer was high. She received high marks from the leaders and we will use her again. Highly recommend for future engagements.

I knew I needed to restructure a portion of the support staff in my organization but didn’t know where to start.  My Human Resources department lacked the expertise at that time, and I was overwhelmed at the thought of reorganizing job roles and reporting structures and quite simply I’m not qualified to do so.  Megan was highly recommended to me by a colleague, so the Dean and I reached out.  We are still very glad that we did!  Megan did an amazing job engaging every level of stakeholder from the support staff themselves, the supervisors and others involved in the process.  By the end of the process, we had a well-defined staffing restructure mapped out along with promotional plans for a few key staff.  The results have been amazing!  Due to the nature of our work, we are constantly under compliance audits and have had significantly better work results.  Employee morale has increased, and our efficiency is through the roof.  I have recommended Megan to others and will continue to do so.  I look forward to partnering with her in the future!
